Eastenders to Teach Politics

Due to the unique way that the BBC is funded, being popular isn't the be-all and end-all, (unlike ITV). Instead, the BBC is also mandated to mentally stimulate and educate its audience. Historically, BBC 2 accomplished this task with flagship programs such as Newsnight and Horizon. These programs are becoming every more unpopular, and MOPT (members of the public) and turning towards dumbed down programs such as the X-Factor.

The BBC's response is to hide quality programming inside its apparently vacuous schedule. So next time you watch Eastenders, look out for the subliminal messages. With the current turmoil in Government, Eastenders is soon to be packed with subliminal messages, intended to make the viewers think about politics, and the political system in the UK.
